By KERRY PATRICK kpatrick@newsandsentinel.com PARKERSBURG —Shawn Brand’s previous experience with Appalachian Power Park in Charleston is nothing to write home about. That can all change when Parkersburg Post 15 meets Morgantown Post 2 in an opening round game for the West Virginia state tournament. First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m. today. “I’ve played in two all-star games and never won at the park,” Brand said. “I look forward to playing there and winning.” Post 15 is one of six teams in the field hoping to advance to next week’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament in West Lawn, Pa. The state’s double-elimination bracket also has Wheeling Post 1 meeting Elkins Post 29 at noon and South Charleston Post 94 hooking up with Berkeley Post 14 at 7 p.m. If Post 15 passes its first test, it will advance to Thursday’s 7 p.m. contest against the winner of South Charleston and Berkeley.
